PRAGUE Public Transit (DPP) has issued a call for tender to prequalify companies for a turnkey contact worth around Koruna 86bn ($US 3.66bn) to supply rolling stock and automate Prague metro lines C and D.<\/p>\n
Under the contract, the chosen contractor will supply 69 five-car metro trains with maintenance for 35 years, install automatic train operation (ATO) using a CBTC system to achieve grade of automation 4 (GoA4) on lines C and D, and install platform screen doors and maintain them for 25 years. The contract will also include the modernisation of two depots.<\/p>\n
DPP will confirm the number of trains during the consultation phase with bidders. DPP wants to operate trains on the 22.4km Line C at headways of at least 90-seconds and achieve a 20% increase in capacity.<\/p>\n
Construction of the first 10.6km section with 10 stations of Line D is currently underway. DPP plans to procure 10 trains initially for the line, rising to 16 sets. This figure will also be confirmed during the consultation.<\/p>\n
Trains for Line D will be delivered first, followed by the 53 sets earmarked for Line C. All axles will be motored to cope with 4% gradients.<\/p>\n
