Passengers are being advised to check before travelling during key railway upgrades in the Coventry area this weekend.<\/p>\n

Network Rail teams will be replacing track, improving drainage and upgrading points – the devices that let trains move from one track to another at junctions. <\/p>\n

This essential improvement work will help keep the railway safe for the tens of thousands of passengers and many freight trains which use the line every week.<\/p>\n

The planned upgrades, which will provide better and more reliable journeys, mean no trains will be calling at Coventry or Birmingham International on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 November, with rail replacement buses in place.<\/p>\n

Rail passengers are being urged to plan by using National Rail Enquiries and allow extra time to get to where they need to be.<\/p>\n

Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail Central route, said:<\/strong> \u201cThese essential track upgrades will help keep the railway safe and reliable for years to come. We know there is never a good time to close the railway but this work has been carefully planned to keep disruption to a minimum and we thank passengers for their patience while we do the work.<\/p>\n
