Tram renewal works have been progressing at the corner of Victoria and Elizabeth Streets with the project expected to take 2 weeks to complete. These works are in and around the Queen Victoria Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The above photos show the works in the early stages where the tracks have been lifted. These images were taken on the corner of Victoria and Elizabeth Sts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new “superstop” is being installed for unknown reasons in Victoria Street, a very busy road for vehicles accessing West Melbourne and North Melbourne. The additional super stop will mean there are two super stops at the market with 100M of each other. Some may ask why the need for two stops?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new super stop is a central platform which will adversely affect parking and also vehicle access to the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The above photos were taken on 21 October 2025 and show the works well underway. The track has been replaced with the road having been resurfaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These works would not have come cheap, were they really necessary?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
