Such a tunnel could connect Alaska with Russia\u2019s Far East and could also be used for freight purposes.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-66760\"><\/span>Dmitriev said that a \u201cPutin-Trump tunnel\u201d would be a 70-mile long link that is not necessarily a brand new idea. Similar ideas were floated for a Siberia-Alaska railway in 1904 and a 2007 Russian plan also included such a link.<\/p>\n<p>When asked by reporters about the tunnel idea, Donald Trump called the idea \u201cinteresting\u201d. Kremlin envoy Dmitriev addressed Elon Musk in a post on X, saying: \u201cImagine connecting the US and Russia, the Americas and the Afro-Eurasia with the Putin-Trump tunnel &#8211; a 70-mile link symbolizing unity. Traditional costs are $65B+, but [Elon Musk\u2019s construction company] Boring Company\u2019s tech could reduce it to &lt;$8B.
