Picture: Ten<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Faranda apologised and handed her crying baby off screen before revealing she was \u201cprepared to leave\u201d the gig if she felt like her baby was \u201cimpacting other people\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe fact that he (Barker) was on the mic &#8211; it felt intimidating &#8211; I was breastfeeding at the time, so you do feel more vulnerable,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Project was forced to disable comments on the interview as social media was flooded with comments calling out Harris for the own goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s something really really funny about The Project host asking for the baby to leave for being disruptive during the interview and then going right back to empathising with the mother about being asked to take her baby out during a comedy show for being disruptive,\u201d wrote one viewer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHilarious. The Project takes aim at comedian Arj Barker because he asked a mother\/baby to leave &amp; avoid disrupting a live show. At the 3 min mark Sarah Harris kicks the same baby off the air to avoid disrupting the show. You can\u2019t make this up,\u201d added another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is hilarious. Picture: Twitter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2018Train wreck\u2019 interview on ACA&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During a separate interview on Nine\u2019s A Current Affair, Ms Faranda\u2019s baby became unsettled and viewers struggled to hear what she or interviewer Ally Langdon were saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Taking to&nbsp;<em>ACA<\/em>\u2019s Facebook page one person wrote: \u201cShe couldn\u2019t even get through this 5 minute interview properly because her baby was playing up the whole time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have kids and there is always a time a place for little children. This mother is so entitled it\u2019s unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe baby\u2019s performance on&nbsp;<em>A Current Affair&nbsp;<\/em>says it all,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis interview was an absolute train wreck. Ally ended it as soon as she could because that kid was uncontrollable. Imagine that at a comedy show. She says the incident left her feeling \u201chumiliated\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/3348473f977f5c47641c1050ab282005.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-30292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/3348473f977f5c47641c1050ab282005.webp 1024w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/3348473f977f5c47641c1050ab282005-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/3348473f977f5c47641c1050ab282005-768x576.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Faranda questioned why a comedy show wasn\u2019t a place for a baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2018Intimidating and humiliating\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Faranda earlier told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/7news.com.au\/entertainment\/celebrity\/comedian-arj-barker-sparks-furore-after-asking-mother-and-baby-to-leave-melbourne-show--c-14397410\">7News<\/a>&nbsp;that the experience at the Athenaeum Theatre on Saturday night was \u201cintimidating and humiliating\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c(Clara) wasn\u2019t yelling \u2026 I could equate it to if someone had a cough during the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf he had just stopped the show, moved the microphone away and said to me, \u2018Hey, actually I\u2019m finding it a bit distracting. Do you mind leaving?\u2019, I wouldn\u2019t have minded\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was breastfeeding at the time but Barker later said he didn\u2019t know she was feeding as he couldn\u2019t see her due to the glare from the stage lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Faranda was forced to leave with around 10 other audience members leaving in solidarity with her, while other audience members heckled her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident has sparked a fierce debate with many defending the mum\u2019s right to enjoy a comedy show and others saying she should have stayed at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on&nbsp;<em>ACA<\/em>, Ms Faranda said her baby was babbling before she decided to give her a \u201cquick feed\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe started giggling, bubbling, similar to what you\u2019ve heard, not for very long because then I just go for a quick feed and she was quiet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cArj Barker noticed her and he made some jokes and it was OK but at the end of that little segment, he said \u2018I speak baby and it said take me outside\u2019, and then he repeated that, and everybody was laughing, so everybody thought that was funny,\u201d she told Ms Langdon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI was not quite sure he was joking about that last bit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the<em>&nbsp;ACA<\/em>&nbsp;interview the baby then started crying loudly Ms Faranda was trying to speak. But she insisted it wasn\u2019t anywhere near as bad during Barker\u2019s comedy set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ms Faranda then questioned why a comedy show wasn\u2019t a place for a baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWell, to each their own I guess. But why is it not a place for a baby?\u201d she asked<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf they\u2019re not being disruptive, I don\u2019t understand. Is it any different to a heckler, do they boot out hecklers if they say something? Comedians put up with a lot, don\u2019t they?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t feel like we were anywhere near that level.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-21.jpeg\" alt=\"Barker said he placed the blame with promoters for allowing the woman to enter the venue despite there being a 15-plus age limit advertised online.\" class=\"wp-image-30288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-21.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-21-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/image-21-768x576.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Barker said he placed the blame with promoters for allowing the woman to enter the venue despite there being a 15-plus age limit advertised online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to 3AW Radio on Monday morning, she insisted her baby \u201cwasn\u2019t screaming\u201d and hit back at critics who questioned why she took a kid to a \u201c15 plus\u201d comedy show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mother said she had intentionally booked seats with her sister and a friend near the front of the theatre but to the side so she could make a quick exit if her bub got too noisy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t want to impact other people, people were out to have a good night.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a statement, Barker refused to back down, insisting the baby was \u201cdisrupting\u201d his performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe show is strictly age 15 plus as clearly stated on the ticket site. She had an infant with her. The baby was disrupting my performance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the other 700 people who paid to see the gig, I politely told her the baby couldn\u2019t stay. She thought I was kidding, which made the exchange a bit awkward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI felt bad about the whole situation and stated this on the night more than once. I offered her a refund. Theatre staff should not have seated a baby in my audience in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barker also spoke to 3AW Radio in a bid to clear his name on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c(In that theatre) sound travels, you can hear the drop of a pin,\u201d he told host Tom Elliott.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t take much to distract an audience, and I\u2019ve worked on these jokes and there\u2019s timing and there\u2019s pauses, and it\u2019s just not going to work with the baby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI made the decision, it wasn\u2019t easy, it was really awkward for me.
