The River Torrens to Darlington project has hit an important milestone with the completion of its first construction project.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Selgar Avenue link road has been completed, connecting motorists to southern Adelaide\u2019s Tonsley Innovation District and southbound lanes of South Road.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new road allows vehicles to make a right turn onto South Road from Selgar Avenue via MAB Circuit and Tonsley Boulevard.<\/span><\/p>\n

It also provides another entry point into the Tonsley area from South Road, in addition to the existing Tonsley Boulevard intersection. The new link road is essential for improving local area access and connectivity with the Torrens to Darlington motorway and South Road corridor in the Clovelly Park area.<\/span><\/p>\n

Federal Minister for Boothby, Louise Miller-Frost, said, \u201cCompleting this new link road will connect local businesses and motorists to the Tonsley Innovation District and the southbound lanes of South Road.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The $2.8 million main construction of the Selgar Avenue link road was delivered by local civil engineering company Bardavcol.<\/span><\/p>\n

South Australian Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Tom Koutsantonis, said he was very excited to announce the <\/span>first intersection and road upgrade as part of the $850 million broader network upgrades package is now complete.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis package is delivering additional network and amenity upgrades along and around the 10.5km Torrens to Darlington Project to ensure the proper functioning of the motorway and wider road network both during and after construction.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Other early works across the Torrens to Darlington Project are progressing well, including the completion of nearby Tonsley East Substation, which will supply electricity to the tunnel-boring machines (TBMs) and then to the two parallel four-kilometre-long southern tunnels once they are completed in 2030.<\/span><\/p>\n

The facility, which was built by South Australia Power Networks and its subsidiary Enerven, is located on the site of the former Mitsubishi building fronting South Road and will constitute part of the project\u2019s Southern Laydown Area.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Australian and South Australian governments are delivering the $15.4 billion Torrens to Darlington Project on a 50:50 basis, which will complete the non-stop, 78km north-south corridor between Gawler and Old Noarlunga.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Australian Government is pleased to be partnering with the South Australian Government to enhance Adelaide\u2019s southern access links to the Torrens to Darlington motorway project,\u201d Ms Miller-Frost said.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 10.5km Torrens to Darlington Project will provide motorists with a nine-minute journey from West Hindmarsh to Darlington.<\/span><\/p>\n
