{"id":30145,"date":"2024-02-15T09:54:34","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T23:54:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infrastructuremagazine.com.au\/?p=51164"},"modified":"2024-02-15T09:54:34","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T23:54:34","slug":"world-first-heavy-vehicle-hazard-perception-test","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=30145","title":{"rendered":"World-first heavy vehicle hazard perception test"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety (CARRS) has been commissioned by Austroads to lead the development of a world-first hazard perception test for heavy vehicle drivers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project will be undertaken by CARRS\u2019s Professor Sharon Newman, in collaboration with hazard perception experts, Dr Andrew Hill and Professor Mark Horswill from the University of Queensland.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hazard perception is one of the few driving-specific skills consistently found to be associated with crash risk. In many jurisdictions across the world, light vehicle drivers are required to achieve a passing score on a computer-based hazard perception test before being allowed to progress to an unrestricted driver licence.
