Road Upgrade complete ahead of schedule"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians can now benefit from improved journeys in Melbourne\u2019s outer south-east with construction of the Hall Road Upgrade project completed nine months ahead of schedule.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This means 17,000 daily motorists can now use Hall Road\u2019s 5.2km of new lanes and signalised intersections at McCormicks Road, Taylors Road, Western Port Highway, and Evans and Cranbourne-Frankston roads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hall Road upgrade project was delivered by equal funding of $141.25 million each from the Federal Government and the Victorian Government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Final asphalting works will be completed in March, with minor close-out works underway until late 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Hall Road Upgrade builds on improvements already delivered through the Thompsons Road and Hallam Road Upgrades, along with improvements on the Western Port Highway and Lathams Road \u2013 significantly improving safety and reducing congestion for the 112,000 combined motorists who use these roads every day.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since construction began in 2022, the project has created more than 850 direct jobs and more than 42,000t of asphalt has been laid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Member for Corio, Richard Marles, said that as communities in Melbourne\u2019s outer south-east continue to grow, these projects will ensure locals remain safe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt will also reduce time people spend in their car, giving more time back to families,\u201d Mr Marles said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Catherine King, said that the Federal Government is working with the Victorian Government to ensure the state\u2019s roads and transport networks are in the best possible condition and well planned for the community.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Hall Road Upgrade is one of a number of major improvements to the road and rail network in Melbourne\u2019s south-east to connect growing communities, ease congestion on local roads, and improve access to public transport,\u201d Ms King said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Victorian Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Danny Pearson, said that the State Government is delivering the biggest and most transformative suburban roads upgrade program in Victoria\u2019s history across Melbourne\u2019s outer suburbs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis project will better connect local communities in Melbourne\u2019s outer south east to jobs, healthcare and education \u2013 while greatly improving traffic flow along Hall
