{"id":300937,"date":"2025-10-13T22:30:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T12:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=183700"},"modified":"2025-10-13T22:30:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T12:30:00","slug":"rail-journeys-to-be-affected-by-track-renewals-between-bristol-and-bath","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=300937","title":{"rendered":"Rail journeys to be affected by track renewals between Bristol and Bath"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/travel\/rail-journeys-to-be-affected-by-track-renewals-between-bristol-and-bath\/\" title=\"Rail journeys to be affected by track renewals between Bristol and Bath\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/13114157\/gwr-news-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/13114157\/gwr-news-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/13114157\/gwr-news-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Great Western Railway services between Bristol and Bath will be affected by essential rail improvement work this half term.<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail engineers plan to replace track between Bristol Temple Meads and Keynsham, as well as carrying out essential maintenance at other locations along the line.<\/p>\n<p>These works will impact train services from Monday 27 to Thursday 30 October:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Replacement buses will operate between Bristol Temple Meads and Bath Spa<\/li>\n<li>A reduced train service will operate between London Paddington and Bath Spa<\/li>\n<li>A reduced train service will also operate between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads using an alternative route \u2013 not stopping at Bath Spa\/Chippenham<\/li>\n<li>Trains will still operate between Bristol Temple Meads and Cardiff Central\/Gloucester<\/li>\n<li>Trains will also still operate between Bath Spa and Westbury\/Portsmouth Harbour\/Frome\/Weymouth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Oana Apetroaie, GWR Station Manager for Bath Spa and Chippenham, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis work forms part of a wider, ongoing, rail improvement programme to ensure the continued reliability of this important section of the railway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring these four days, buses will replace all trains between Bristol Temple Meads, Keynsham, Oldfield Park and Bath Spa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an alternative, rail tickets can also be used to travel on local bus services in the area operated by First West of England buses instead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrains will still run between London Paddington and Bath Spa via Chippenham, and between London Paddington and Bristol Temple Meads using an alternative route.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important customers are aware these alternative arrangements could make journey times longer, so please plan ahead.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Parker, Lead Portfolio Manager for Network Rail, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the four days we will be working through St Anne\u2019s tunnel to replace more than a kilometre of track and over 5,000 tonnes of stone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaintenance teams will be working alongside us, taking full advantage of the opportunity to complete other essential track and signalling work while the line is closed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking time to complete these upgrades is vital to ensure the continued safe and reliable running of the railway, but we appreciate it means disruption to passengers and residents.
