The rail-over-road bridge in Peel Street, Tamworth, between Werris Creek and Armidale, has been damaged by a truck striking it in early March, and is expected to be closed for repairs until late April.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The repairs have been determined to be more complex than first thought due to the nature of the damage and will take longer to fix than previously forecast.<\/span><\/p>\n

Additionally, along the same rail line, the Marius Street viaduct (also in Tamworth) was damaged on 16 March by an excavator being transported on the back of a flat-bed truck.<\/span><\/p>\n

Transport for NSW is working with Rail Infrastructure Manager, UGL Regional Linx, to deliver the necessary repair works on both of these structures.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rail services between Werris Creek and Armidale cannot resume until both structures are repaired and the track is deemed safe for trains.<\/span><\/p>\n

NSW TrainLink services to Armidale continue to operate, with coaches replacing trains between Armidale and Werris Creek. Trains are available to continue the journey from Werris Creek to Sydney.<\/span><\/p>\n

NSW TrainLink is advising passengers to be aware of this disruption to services between Werris Creek and Armidale and to plan ahead, particularly as these arrangements will be in place during the Easter long weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n

Passengers are also advised of planned trackwork from 3 April until 6 April which means coaches will replace rail services between Armidale and Sydney and Moree and Sydney, in both directions for the whole journey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Motorists are also reminded that the road underneath both structures remains open to traffic.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
