{"id":29969,"date":"2024-04-08T13:04:13","date_gmt":"2024-04-08T03:04:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/infrastructuremagazine.com.au\/?p=51816"},"modified":"2024-04-08T13:04:13","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T03:04:13","slug":"196-3m-investment-delivering-seven-priority-regional-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=29969","title":{"rendered":"$196.3M investment delivering seven priority regional projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The New South Wales Government is providing almost $200 million in funding to support the development of seven priority projects at the Snowy Mountain and Jindabyne Precinct, in order to support regional communities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These projects align with both the State Government\u2019s and communities priorities to generate job opportunities, enhance infrastructure for housing supply, essential services and sustainable tourism.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Special Activation Precincts are strategic and sustainable business hubs designed to create jobs and fuel economic development across regional New South Wales. The government\u2019s investment of $196.3 million has been allocated in consultation with the community and will boost future opportunities in the area while also improving services for current residents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set to commence within the next year, these projects include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A new water treatment plant to ensure the current and future Jindabyne community and visitors enjoy safe drinking water<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Upgrade to the Jindabyne sewage treatment plant to protect public health and the environment for future generations<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enhance the electrical, water and sewer networks to future-proof services to foster a growing Jindabyne community and support environmental sustainability<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enable land acquisition for future housing development, including affordable housing projects, and to preserve the corridor for the Southern Connector Road<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Invest in and activate a Jindabyne Mountain Bike and Adventure Park to attract year-round tourism and enhance recreation amenities in the region<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Build the capabilities of Aboriginal tourism businesses across the region to attract year-round tourism and enhance the region\u2019s experiences for visitors<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plan and design enhancements for the Lake Jindabyne Foreshore to improve amenity, community facilities and access for visitors<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The New South Wales Government has said that it will continue to work closely with Snowy Monaro Regional Council to deliver these priorities and explore future opportunities<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New South Wales Minister for Agriculture, Regional NSW and Western NSW, Tara Moriarty, said that the State Government is delivering seven priority projects for the Snowy Mountains precinct and will break ground to get them going as soon as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe want to generate new job opportunities, provide upgrades for ageing utilities, and sustainably enhance year-round tourism, community amenities and housing supply,\u201d Ms Moriarty said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThese are all practical and sustainable improvements that will make Jindabyne an even better place for residents, workers and visitors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI look forward to the positive changes this work will deliver for Jindabyne\u2019s community.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Member for Monaro and New South Wales Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, Steve Whan, said that he is delighted that the State Government is starting work on a new water treatment plant to provide year-round safe drinking water for Jindabyne residents, businesses and tourists, which will put an end to the town\u2019s boil water alerts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Snowy Mountains are an environmentally sensitive area, so the investment in sewage treatment and infrastructure is critical and urgent.
