The block train will make the return of empty containers faster and, GR hopes, induce a shift from road to rail.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-66487\"><\/span>\u201cFollowing the successful operation of the Poti\u2013Tbilisi\u2013Poti route, Georgian Railway has introduced a new block train service from Georgia\u2019s ports to Baku\u201d, the operator writes. \u201cThe train will run along the Batumi\u2013Poti\u2013Tbilisi\u2013Absheron\u2013Sumgayit\u2013Alat corridor, linking the Black Sea ports with Azerbaijan\u2019s largest terminals on a fixed schedule.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the fixed schedule, customers will benefit from faster container delivery from Poti to Baku and enjoy complete transparency regarding transit times and the prompt return of empty containers, GR says.<\/p>\n<h2>Time and costs<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cThis is a streamlined logistics solution for cargo owners, ensuring that containers from Batumi, Poti, and Tbilisi reach Baku\u2014and vice versa\u2014within clearly defined timelines, without delays\u201d, comments Lasha Abashidze, General Director of Georgian Railway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeside time-saving, customers will also benefit from reduced costs, as storing cargo and empty containers at terminals typically involves daily fees.
