For example, the trains need to be made up of wagons suitable for UTIs, whether empty or loaded, and they need to run on specific routes. The calculation of TAC in Romania is based on various factors, including the distance travelled by a train, its gross tonnage, the type of goods transported and the route on which the train runs.

Moreover, if a specific operator is already benefiting from another type of discount, such as the one for international transit, only one reduction will be applied. In addition, the discount will not be available for companies that have a registered debt older than 35 days. If there are debts, the discount will be applied only to those companies that already have agreements in place to settle the debt. If operators develop a debt during the validity period of the TAC reduction and do not settle it within 35 days, CFR can decide to terminate the contract.

Also read:

New Romanian rail terminal on Ukraine border starts testing operations

Romanian rail freight volumes down by over 11%

RCG launches new connections to Germany and Turkey via Romania

The Romanian state-owned railway group Compania Națională de Căi Ferate (CFR) is reducing track access charges (TAC) by 33 per cent for some intermodal services.
