Polish rail freight operator PKP Cargo is launching a new international connection to Rotterdam. Trains will depart twice a week from a newly built intermodal terminal in Karsznice, central Poland. The company says that the new route is part of a larger strategy for intermodal transport in the region.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>The Polish rail operator will be running a service for Agromex Wojciech i Jacek Fraszka on the Karsznice – Rotterdam route. Agromex focusses on transport services to and from the United Kingdom, which makes Rotterdam a key node for its intermodal operations. According to PKP Cargo, it is the \u201cfirst permanent transport from the Karsznice terminal as part of an intermodal connection\u201d.<\/p>\n

Intermodal strategy<\/h2>\n

PKP Cargo states that the launch of this new service is part of a strategy to expand the network of intermodal terminals in its region of operations. The company completed the construction of an intermodal terminal in Karsznice in late 2023. It was a major investment for the company, which cost 33 million euros.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe intermodal connection to Rotterdam inaugurates permanent connections from our key investment, the Zdu\u0144ska Wola-Karsznice Terminal. This is the largest multimodal terminal in Poland, located in the geographical center of the country\u201d, according to a representative of PKP Cargo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opening of the Karsznice terminal will contribute to the development of modern logistics services in central Poland and the transfer of goods transport from roads to rail, which is the implementation of the goal of decarbonisation of transport. The terminal provides convenient connections with seaports on the Baltic and Adriatic Seas, access to the New Silk Road, and also connects these relations with Western Europe\u201d, said another PKP Cargo representative.<\/p>\n
