A wave of strikes aimed at breaking ties with Israel is hitting Italy today, Monday 22 September. Launched by the USB trade union, the actions will block rail freight, logistics and public transport services but also involve universities and other industries.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>For rail freight, the strike started yesterday at 9 pm and will last 24 hours. \u201cThe outrage over what is happening in Gaza and the complicity of Western governments, led by Italy, is widespread and knows no boundaries\u201d, the union said in a statement. Other than rail freight services, the strikes will also involve the logistics sector and ports such as Ravenna, Livorno and Trieste.<\/p>\n

One of the leading entities of this is the port of Genoa, where a ship to be loaded and sent to Israel is awaited for today at 3:30 pm. USB pointed out that the striking workers will ensure that this does not happen, as its aim is to “break ties with the terrorist state of Israel”. In total, protests are organised in 81 locations<\/a> throughout the country. \u201cFor a free Palestine from the river to the sea, we will shout in every square\u201d, USB added.<\/p>\n
