TransPennine Express (TPE) has delivered Brough station\u2019s first-ever toilet facility with the launch of a brand-new, fully accessible toilet pod.<\/p>\n

The \u00a3135,000 investment provides passengers with a fully accessible toilet. The facility includes handrails, a stoma shelf, and a baby changing unit, ensuring it meets the needs of a wide range of customers.<\/p>\n

Access is simple and secure. Passengers press the \u2018Bell\u2019 button on the pod console to contact the ticket office, where staff check their ticket and grant entry.<\/p>\n

The pod features two pull cords and four low-level panic buttons. Triggering these sets off an audible alarm in the ticket office and flashes a beacon above the door, ensuring staff are alerted even when on the platforms.<\/p>\n

The project was delivered by MJM as principal contractor with Vextrix acting as contract administrator and principal designer. <\/p>\n

Chris Nutton, Major Projects & TRU Director said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to bring toilet facilities to Brough station for the very first time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis investment is an important step in improving the station for our customers, creating a facility that is not only much needed but also accessible, safe, and inclusive for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

This project is part of TPE\u2019s wider commitment to improving accessibility across its network. Earlier this year, all toilets at TPE stations were upgraded to be stoma friendly, ensuring facilities are practical, inclusive, and designed to meet the needs of customers.<\/p>\n
