The transaction covers Transfesa\u2019s intermodal and rail freight services, excluding its automotive segment.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-85987\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Spanish media outlet El Mercantil reported that the deal effectively divides Transfesa into two entities. Boluda will take over traffic operations in Spain and Portugal, with the exception of automotive services. It will also assume responsibility for railway maintenance, terminal management, and shunting.<\/p>\n<p>DB Cargo will retain Transfesa\u2019s rail and logistics services for vehicle transport. The scope of this retention remains unclear, as the company sold its automotive logistics subsidiary Semat to a French group in June. The role of Renfe, the Spanish state-owned railway holding which owns more than 20% of Transfesa\u2019s shares, is also not yet fully defined.<\/p>\n<p>RailFreight.com contacted DB Cargo, Transfesa, and Boluda for further details, but had not received a response by the time of publication. Transfesa is the fourth-largest private rail operator in Spain, and fifth overall, behind Captrain, Medway, and Continental, with a 5% market share.
