Siemens Mobility welcomed Martin Vickers, Member of Parliament for Brigg and Immingham, to its Goole Rail Village, where he met employees and learned how the site is driving jobs, skills, and innovation across Yorkshire and the Humber.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Mr Vickers toured the production line for new Piccadilly line trains for Transport for London and learned about Siemens Mobility\u2019s plans to assemble its Desiro Verve battery bi-mode trains at Goole, a proven technology already in use in Germany that could play a vital role in improving passenger journeys.<\/p>\n

As chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Rail and a long-time advocate for electrification, modern rolling stock, and improved connectivity in his constituency, Martin Vickers brought his extensive rail experience to the visit and insight into the sector\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

Martin Vickers, Member of Parliament for Brigg and Immingham, said: \u201cIt was a privilege to visit Siemens Mobility\u2019s impressive Rail Village in Goole and see the scale of investment taking place here. The facility is not only delivering cutting-edge trains but also creating real opportunities for people in my constituency and in East Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe battery bi-mode technology Siemens Mobility wants to bring to Goole has the potential to transform rail travel in this country, helping us reduce reliance on diesel and saving taxpayers billions. I look forward to following the progress at Goole closely.\u201d<\/p>\n

His visit gave us the opportunity to showcase the incredible work of our teams in Goole and to underline how our investment of up to \u00a3240 million is helping to create jobs and strengthen the supply chain in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur plans to assemble innovative battery bi-mode trains mean Britain should never need to buy another diesel passenger train again, and we have a skilled team to deliver this pioneering technology right here in East Yorkshire.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of the visit, Mr Vickers was shown around key areas of the site including the components, assembly and commissioning facilities, where he met with employees working on live manufacturing projects.<\/p>\n

He saw first-hand how the site is delivering social values – supporting local families through food bank donations, volunteering efforts, creating opportunities for young people with special educational needs through supported internships, and inspiring future engineers through school outreach, mock interviews, and work experience placements.<\/p>\n

Overall, Siemens Mobility\u2019s investment will bring up to 1,000 new jobs to the East Riding of Yorkshire, as well as around 1,700 supply chain opportunities, reinforcing the company\u2019s role as a driver of growth in the region.<\/p>\n
