{"id":27899,"date":"2024-04-16T08:40:16","date_gmt":"2024-04-15T22:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/?p=115912"},"modified":"2024-04-16T08:40:16","modified_gmt":"2024-04-15T22:40:16","slug":"essential-track-works-to-maintain-southern-nsw-rail-line-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=27899","title":{"rendered":"Essential track works to maintain southern NSW rail line"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/artc-e1713223030825.jpg\" alt=\"southern highlands\" style=\"float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;\"><figcaption>Image\/ARTC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artc.com.au\/\">Australian Rail Track Corporation<\/a> (ARTC) will carry out essential rail maintenance and improvement work on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/southern-highlands-lines-scheduled-for-shutdowns\/\">Southern Highlands<\/a> line this coming weekend.<\/strong><span id=\"more-115912\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>During the works the line will be closed from Enfield West to Moss Vale from 10:30pm Friday 19 April to 2:00am Monday 22 April.<\/p>\n<p>The line will also be closed between Moss Vale to Cootamundra from 6:00am Saturday 20 April to 6:30pm Sunday 21 April.<\/p>\n<p>The work is part of ARTC\u2019s annual maintenance program and will include;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Track tamping, rail grinding and re-sleepering<\/li>\n<li>Turnout component replacement<\/li>\n<li>Track resurfacing and mudhole removal at priority locations<\/li>\n<li>Vegetation spraying and hazardous tree removal<\/li>\n<li>Structure repairs and signal maintenance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Acting ARTC Group Executive, Operations Clinton Crump said the Southern Highlands line is an important part of the ARTC network.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Regular maintenance ensures that this corridor will continue to operate as a vital part of the economic supply chain and provide travel connections to communities,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring this operation, we\u2019re investing more than 10,000 work hours and approximately $8 million in essential works to maintain a high standard of safety and reliability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cARTC would like to thank the southern NSW community for its patience while these critical, long-term improvements take place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coaches and buses will replace NSW TransLink services during the trackwork, and customers should visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/protect-au.mimecast.com\/s\/iLY1C71ZZQIypx5WiWE7n0?domain=transportnsw.info\/\">Transportnsw.info<\/a>\u00a0or call 13 22 32 for assistance in planning their journey.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, ARTC will be undertaking rail grinding works between Moss Vale and Goulburn for periods of time from 17-19 April and 21-23 April.
