{"id":277629,"date":"2025-09-03T18:34:47","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T08:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=182161"},"modified":"2025-09-03T18:34:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T08:34:47","slug":"scotrail-driver-embarks-on-120-mile-charity-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=277629","title":{"rendered":"ScotRail driver embarks on 120-mile charity challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/charity\/scotrail-driver-embarks-on-120-mile-charity-challenge\/\" title=\"ScotRail driver embarks on 120-mile charity challenge\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/17144854\/scotrail-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/17144854\/scotrail-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/17144854\/scotrail-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A ScotRail train driver is swapping high-speed travel for pedal-power by taking on a 120-mile cycling challenge to raise money for Age Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>Fresh from completing the Scottish Half Marathon, where he raised \u00a3300, Yoker-based train driver, Sean Kennedy, will be taking on the challenge on a static bike at Glasgow Queen Street station on Wednesday, 3 September.<\/p>\n<p>He will be aiming to complete the equivalent of a round trip from Queen Street to the charity\u2019s head office in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n<p>Age Scotland will be at Glasgow Queen Street station on the day with an information stand and raffle tickets for a host of prizes, with all proceeds going towards the charity\u2019s work to tackle loneliness and support older people across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Sean\u2019s efforts form part of the three-year charity partnership between Scotland\u2019s Railway and Age Scotland, which raised more than \u00a3330,000 in its first year through fundraising and donations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter completing the half marathon, I wanted to do even more to raise funds and awareness for Age Scotland,\u201d said Sean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis cycle is a big personal challenge, but knowing it will support such an important cause makes every mile worthwhile.
