As T\u00fcrkiye is just getting started with construction works, Azerbaijan is coming closer to the finish line. Both countries are building rail access routes to the future Zangezur Corridor through southern Armenia, but are at vastly different stages of development. <\/strong>
\n<\/span>
\nThe future Azerbaijani railway to Armenia, running between Horadiz and Aghband, will be the eastern access route to the key Zangezur Corridor. Azerbaijan has finished 84% of the design work and 67% of the construction work. \u201cAt present, earthworks and the construction of engineering structures are being carried out along the 75\u2013106 kilometre section of the line\u201d, explains Azerbaijan Railways (ADY).<\/p>\n

ADY plans to build eight train stations along the line. In addition, it will get 40 bridges, 26 road crossings, four tunnels, three galleries, and retaining walls for a total of 553 structures.<\/p>\n

Earlier, T\u00fcrkiye started building the Kars-Dilucu railway. Once finished, it will connect the Zangezur Corridor to Turkish rail hub Kars. The railway is planned to consist of an electrified double-track line with a capacity of 15 million tonnes of freight and 5,5 million passengers per year.<\/p>\n
