{"id":27216,"date":"2024-04-12T15:37:29","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T05:37:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=27216"},"modified":"2024-04-12T15:37:29","modified_gmt":"2024-04-12T05:37:29","slug":"energy-upgrade-will-make-whittlesford-parkway-rail-station-greener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=27216","title":{"rendered":"Energy upgrade will make Whittlesford Parkway rail station greener"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whittlesford Parkway station is to become more energy efficient.<\/p>\n<p>Train operator, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greateranglia.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greater Anglia<\/a>, is about to carry out a programme of electrical upgrades at the rail station in Cambridgeshire to reduce energy consumption and improve facilities for passengers.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme will see solar panels and electric vehicle charging points installed.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time that solar panels have been installed to help meet energy requirements at a rail station in East Anglia, helping the railway to become even more sustainable as the rail industry works to achieve net zero by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>LEDs, new variable controls, and automatic settings for the lighting and new, more efficient car park and footbridge lighting will help to reduce electricity consumption and improve energy-efficiency, reducing the station\u2019s carbon footprint.<\/p>\n<p>The work is due to be completed by the summer and will not cause any inconvenience to passengers, as the station will remain open as usual.<\/p>\n<p>Greater Anglia\u2019s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said: \u201cThis work will help to reduce energy consumption at Whittlesford Parkway and, at the same time, will improve the station ambience and environment for passengers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInvesting in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service standards for our customers.\u201d<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whittlesford Parkway station is to become more energy efficient.
