margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/20094225\/Garrison-Street-track-renewal-Christmas-2024-composite-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/20094225\/Garrison-Street-track-renewal-Christmas-2024-composite-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Journeys through Birmingham will be severely impacted this Bank Holiday due to essential track work and industrial action by CrossCountry.<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail&#8217;s long-planned work to invest \u00a3600,000 upgrading 450 metres of tightly curved track which connects the Camp Hill line with the main line between Birmingham and Coventry will take place on Sunday 24 and Monday 25 August.<\/p>\n<p>It will see changes to routes operated by CrossCountry &#8211; which will already be running a much-reduced timetable &#8211; as well as West Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Avanti West Coast and Transport for Wales.<\/p>\n<p>On those two days fewer trains will run as a result, and those running will be diverted while others will be served by rail replacement bus as follows:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All services between Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International<\/li>\n<li>CrossCountry services between Coleshill Parkway and Birmingham New Street<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>recently announced strike action by staff at CrossCountry<\/strong>&nbsp;will impact other journeys over the bank holiday weekend &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.crosscountrytrains.co.uk\/travel-information\/disruption\/industrial-action\">for more information click here&nbsp;<\/a>&#8211; We will do all we can to help passengers, but I&#8217;d urge everyone to plan ahead, check before they travel, and follow the latest advice from CrossCountry if you are planning to use those services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Georgia Ehrmann, Cross Country regional director for West Midlands and North West, said:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cThe planned upgrades to the Camp Hill Lines will impact services over the Bank Holiday weekend. Throughout the weekend, CrossCountry services will also be significantly affected by planned industrial action by the RMT. We would like to apologise to passengers for the inevitable disruption it will cause and ask that passengers check our website for the latest information before travelling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director at West Midlands Railway, said<\/strong>:\u00a0\u201cWe are grateful for our passengers\u2019 patience while Network Rail carries out essential upgrades this Bank Holiday weekend. We\u2019ll be running rail replacement buses between Birmingham International and Birmingham New Street to keep our customers moving. Please check before you travel and allow extra time for your journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anne Grant, Avanti West Coast station manager at Birmingham New Street, said:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019d like to thank our customers for their patience while Network Rail carry out these important improvement works and advise those who are travelling over the Bank Holiday weekend to allow more time to travel, as well as plan journeys in advance using National Rail Enquiries or the Avanti West Coast website.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Colin Lea, Transport for Wales planning and performance director, said:<\/strong>&nbsp;We\u2019re working closely with our industry partners while Network Rail undertakes essential infrastructure upgrades over the Bank Holiday weekend.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We encourage customers to plan ahead using our website, check for alternative travel options, and allow extra time for their journeys.
