{"id":26941,"date":"2024-04-11T14:38:57","date_gmt":"2024-04-11T04:38:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=26941"},"modified":"2024-04-11T14:38:57","modified_gmt":"2024-04-11T04:38:57","slug":"beth-west-announces-departure-from-east-west-rail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=26941","title":{"rendered":"Beth West announces departure from East West Rail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Interim Chief Executive Officer of <a href=\"https:\/\/eastwestrail.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">East West Rail<\/a>, Beth West, has announced she will be leaving the organisation at the end of her contract to pursue new opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>She said:\u00a0\u201cWhen I started at EWR, it wasn\u2019t even clear if Government would back the project. We now have clear Government support, a real focus on what we\u2019re doing, why we\u2019re doing it and who we\u2019re building it for. As the company moves into a new phase, I\u2019ve reflected that now is the time for me to move on, with EWR Co ready for the future whilst I\u2019m ready for a new challenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The past two years have been ones of significant progress at East West Railway Company. With Beth West at the helm, the team has accomplished a huge amount, not least:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Securing Central Government support for the continued development of EWR as a driver of UK economic growth<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Defining the Preferred Route for EWR, and delivering a Route Update Announcement in May 2023<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Delivering critical design development, in preparation for the first stage of Statutory Consultation in Summer 2024<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Establishing Local Opportunity Plans with \u00a315m of funding to support wider economic growth around new EWR stations<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Unlocking \u00a3240m funding to accelerate delivery of the Marston Vale Line upgrades<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Completing track infrastructure for the route between Oxford and Bletchley, on time and below budget, which will enable services to begin, as planned, from 2025<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Reducing the cost of EWR Co day to day operations by around 30%<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Building increased pan-regional political and public support, with nearly three quarters of local residents now saying they support the transport link.<\/p>\n<p>With the company now on a firm footing and about to embark into its next phase at the launch of Statutory Consultation, Beth has \u2013 after much reflection \u2013 decided the time is right to move on.<\/p>\n<p>Neil Sachdev, Chair of EWR Co, said:\u00a0\u201cBeth\u2019s tenure at EWR Co has been a defining time for the company. I\u2019m sorry to see her go, and I want to thank Beth for the exceptional work that she has led over the past two years with us.
