Heritage Railway Museum closed due to costs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peterborough District Council has pushed ahead with a 10 per cent average rate hike, which will still leave a $524,000 hole in its budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is the highest rate increase in South Australia so far this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The town&#8217;s railway museum has been forced to close amid the cost crunch, with council documents showing it has bled at least $1.5 million since opening in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Council said in a statement that Steamtown will be closed until until 2026 at the earliest while &#8220;a new operating model is developed&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"862\" height=\"485\"
