Passengers can resume journeys between Twyford and Henley-on-Thames this morning after Network Rail completed essential engineering work.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Five days of round-the-clock work took place on the branch line to replace 100m of track, sleepers and ballast to keep the railway running safely and smoothly.<\/p>\n

The railway was temporarily closed so the work could take place safely and efficiently but trains are now running again.<\/p>\n

Maintenance tasks took place, such as clearing overgrown vegetation. Structural surveys were also completed on Shiplake viaduct that carries the railway over the River Thames ahead of potential future work.<\/p>\n

Network Rail programme director Jason Pankhurst said: <\/strong>\u201cWe\u2019ve worked non-stop to ensure this project was successfully completed and to get trains moving again.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s essential we continue to maintain the railway and replace equipment that\u2019s reached the end of its working life to keep journeys safe and reliable.\u201d<\/p>\n
