The programme will run until the end of 2029 and will come in the shape of direct grants to rail companies, both in the freight and passenger sectors.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-64762\"><\/span>European money for the scheme will come from the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate, Environment (FEnIKS) Programme 2021-27, which is financed from the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Funds.<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission considers the money a necessity to help shift goods from the road to rail to greenify transport.
