The search is on to find Britain\u2019s most life-changing railway station, as nominations open for the World Cup of Stations 2025, hosted by Rail Delivery Group. <\/p>\n

From now until 22 August, passengers across the country are invited to nominate stations that have played a life-changing role in their communities or personal lives. This year\u2019s competition forms part of Railway 200, the national programme marking 200 years since the birth of the modern railway. <\/p>\n

The World Cup of Stations 2025 is a key highlight of the Railway 200 programme \u2014 a year-long celebration marking two centuries since the opening of the world\u2019s first passenger railway in Britain. Over the last 200 years, rail has reshaped how we live, work and connect \u2014 linking communities, powering economies, and enriching lives across the globe. This year\u2019s competition shines a light on the human stories behind that legacy, celebrating the moments and memories that make rail truly special. <\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme will recognise the most life-changing station of the last 200 years, honouring the powerful stories behind the railway\u2019s social and cultural impact \u2014 from moments of resilience and renewal to turning points that have shaped people\u2019s lives. <\/p>\n

Jacqueline Starr, Executive Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Rail Delivery Group, said: \u201cThe World Cup of Stations is celebrating the stations that have truly made a difference in people\u2019s lives. Cromford Station is a great example \u2014 its place in British music history and its restoration by the local community shows how stations can become much more than transport hubs. <\/p>\n

\u201cAs we mark 200 years of railway history, we want to hear the incredible stories behind the stations that continue to bring people and communities together.\u201d <\/p>\n

The nomination phase runs from 1 to 22 August 2025, after which a judging panel \u2014 made up of industry representatives, public figures and historians \u2014 will select 20 standout entries to go forward to a public vote in October.\u00a0<\/p>\n
