{"id":256165,"date":"2025-07-24T19:44:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-24T09:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/railuk.com\/?p=180273"},"modified":"2025-07-24T19:44:00","modified_gmt":"2025-07-24T09:44:00","slug":"staffordshire-rail-upgrades-to-improve-safety-and-journey-reliability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=256165","title":{"rendered":"Staffordshire rail upgrades to improve safety and journey reliability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/infrastructure\/staffordshire-rail-upgrades-to-improve-safety-and-journey-reliability\/\" title=\"Staffordshire rail upgrades to improve safety and journey reliability\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/24103053\/riertrenet-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" style=\"display: block; margin-bottom: 5px; clear:both;max-width: 100%;\" link_thumbnail=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/24103053\/riertrenet-485x360.jpg 485w, https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/24103053\/riertrenet-80x60.jpg 80w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Passengers and residents in Stone, Staffordshire, are being advised about a \u00a37m+ package of railway upgrades to improve safety, performance and long-term reliability on the West Coast Main Line.<\/p>\n<p>The work, which has been planned during the summer school holidays, includes refurbishing the River Trent Viaduct, replacing track at Stone station and the renewal of three level crossings in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Network Rail has actively engaged with the local community in Stone to gather feedback and ensure residents\u2019 views were considered as part of the level crossing upgrade plans<em>.<\/em>&nbsp;The upgrades to the three level crossings will mean temporary road closures at:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Meaford level crossing<\/strong>\u00a0from 21:00 on Sunday 10 August until 18:00 on Tuesday 12 August.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Church Lane level crossing<\/strong>\u00a0will be closed overnight for two nights from 22:00 on Tuesday 12 August to 06:00 on Wednesday 13 August and then from 22:00 on Wednesday 13 August to 06:00 on Thursday 14 August. Anyone planning to travel during these dates are advised to check before they travel at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalrail.co.uk\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.nationalrail.co.uk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zayn Sattar<\/strong>, scheme project manager for Network Rail, said: \u201cThis major programme of investment into the West Coast Main Line will help us deliver a safer, more reliable railway for passengers and our communities. By tackling structural issues, renewing track and upgrading level crossings, we\u2019re protecting the future of the railway and reducing the risk of disruption.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve written to local people in Stone about the work and are asking passengers to check before they travel this August.
