{"id":25609,"date":"2024-04-08T05:00:45","date_gmt":"2024-04-07T19:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?guid=61623fbe29df8767cb63a5272524fc7f"},"modified":"2024-04-08T05:00:45","modified_gmt":"2024-04-07T19:00:45","slug":"electric-buses-start-taking-over-from-diesel-in-the-waikato-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=25609","title":{"rendered":"Electric buses start taking over from diesel in the Waikato region"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zero emissions buses are coming to Waip\u0101 from Monday as the region\u2019s inaugural electric bus fleet starts being deployed.<\/p>\n<p>The first of six new EVs will begin replacing the diesel buses that currently operate the Cambridge (20) and Te Awamutu (24) services.<\/p>\n<p>The regional council says the new buses will work to an expanded and more frequent timetable that doubles the number of weekly services connecting Waip\u0101 to Hamilton.<\/p>\n<p>Each weekday, the Cambridge service will increase from eight to 20 return trips and the Te Awamutu service from nine to 19.
