It was originally conceived as a derivative of the popular Airbus A300 widebody, which was the first commercial airliner produced by Airbus. This series was produced by <span class=\"display-card-hyperlink display-card-hyperlink-no-vignette\" data-id=\"58499\"style=\";  ;\" class=\"display-card-hyperlink display-card-hyperlink-no-vignette\"><a href=\"https:\/\/simpleflying.com\/tag\/airbus\/\"  >Airbus<\/a><\/span> for twenty years, with nearly 400 total aircraft produced and delivered to airlines around the world.
