V\/Line<\/a> has confirmed an investigation into a train derailment in North Geelong at Separation Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A number of the freight train\u2019s wagons derailed, but remained upright, on a loop used by grain trains just before midnight on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No injuries were reported and the Standard Gauge Freight and Passenger Main Line between Geelong<\/a> and Ararat remained open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traffic managment remained in place on Separation Street across Thursday, with detours in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In some welcome news for commuters, the incident didn\u2019t impact Geelong and Warrnambool<\/a> train services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A V\/Line spokesperson said a full investigation will be conducted in collaboration with the freight train operator Pacific National<\/a> and the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe thank drivers for their patience while we worked to quickly and safely as possible to re-open the Separation Street North Geelong level crossing following an incident involving a freight train,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
