The contracts have been awarded to British Steel, Saarstahl Rail and Voestalpine, with Arcelor Mittal also able to supply on an ad-hoc basis.<\/p>\n<p>Clive Berrington, group director railway business services, said: \u201cBritish Steel remain extremely competitive in the provision of rail and we are delighted that they will remain our main supplier in the years ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new contracts \u2018go-live\u2019 from 1 July and in summary the five-year contracts will see:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>British Steel supply a minimum of 337,000 tonnes of long and short rail.<\/li>\n<li>Saarstahl Rail supply a minimum of 78,000 tonnes of long and short rail.<\/li>\n<li>Voestalpine supply a minimum of 8,500 tonnes of switch rail.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All these suppliers, and ArcelorMittal, are part of a zero-value framework to enable ad-hoc supply as required.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Berrington concluded by saying: \u201cOur European suppliers are an important part of our rail supply chain both for specialist items, and to ensure security of supply.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Image credit: Network Rail<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/railuk.com\/rail-news\/network-rail-awards-new-five-year-rail-supply-contracts\/\" title=\"Network Rail awards new five-year rail supply contracts\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"485\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.railuk.co\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/24124510\/WCML-track-renewals-Network-Rail-485x360.jpg\" class=\"webfeedsFeaturedVisual wp-post-image\" alt=\"\"><\/a>Network Rail has today concluded its new rail supply contracts for the provision of almost 450,000 tonnes of rail for the five years to 2030.
