It is a good week for rail freight terminals. After openings in Almaty, Aktau, Poti, Gda\u0144sk and Paris, a new expansion is now underway. This time, it is METRANS\u2019 G\u0105dki terminal, in western Poland, that is getting an upgrade.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>With the expansion, METRANS seeks to boost its operational capacity, improve service efficiency and respond to the growing needs of its customers, the operator explains.<\/p>\n

METRANS outlines some tangible steps that it will take during the terminal modernisation. For example, G\u0105dki will get remote-controlled RMG portal cranes of the latest generation, a larger operational area, as well as longer and new tracks for 750-metre trains.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the terminal will get an expanded freight handling and storage zone. That will allow for crane handling. A new modern truck access gate with a parking lot for heavy trucks is also part of the package. METRANS expects the upgrade to complete in the second half of 2026.<\/p>\n

Currently, the G\u0105dki terminal boasts a 175,000 square metre terminal area and a storage capacity of 8,800 TEU. There are four rail tracks, of which one allows for 750-metre trains, the remaining three facilitate 630-metre trains. In terms of handling equipment, it currently has 10 reachstackers that can handle up to 45 tonnes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
