Team members at Siemens Mobility\u2019s Goole Rail Village are helping to make a lasting difference to the community by volunteering and fundraising for local good causes.<\/p>\n

Colleagues at the East Yorkshire site have volunteered hundreds of hours over the past year to support charities, non-profit organisations and community events.  <\/p>\n

All Siemens employees are entitled to two paid days every year to volunteer in their communities, with many team members also continuing to volunteer in their own time with the company\u2019s encouragement and support.<\/p>\n

To mark Volunteers\u2019 Week, from June 2-8, members of the Siemens Mobility team based at the company\u2019s Goole Rail Village came together for a photocall celebrating some of the many ways they and the company support the local community.<\/p>\n

Mark Speed, General Manager at Siemens Mobility\u2019s Goole Rail Village, said<\/strong>: \u201cWherever we operate, supporting the local community is embedded in our culture and values as part of Siemens Mobility\u2019s mission to transform rail travel. That\u2019s why, as a company, we directly support a wide range of local initiatives and give all our people two paid days every year to volunteer in their communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very proud of the tremendous commitment shown by our colleagues in Goole to local charities and good causes. They\u2019re making a difference every day and in so many different ways, which we know is very much appreciated by the local groups and people they help.\u201d<\/p>\n

Global rail technology leader Siemens Mobility has committed up to \u00a3240 million in investment to make the Goole Rail Village an industry-leading centre of excellence, which will bring up to 1,000 new jobs to East Yorkshire, as well as around 1,700 supply chain opportunities<\/p>\n

New Piccadilly line trains for Transport for London are being assembled at the Goole site, before they start to enter service by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n

While developing its operations in Goole, Siemens Mobility has built deep relationships with the community groups and charities in the town.<\/p>\n

One of Siemens Mobility\u2019s key local partners is Two Rivers Community Pantry, a social supermarket and food bank serving Goole and surrounding areas. In 2024 alone, Siemens Mobility colleagues volunteered more than 70 hours to pack food hampers and distribute essentials at the pantry, as well as the company donating \u00a35,000 to buy toys and gifts for children in deprived areas for the fifth year running.<\/p>\n

Almost 30 Siemens Mobility volunteers also took part in a painting and decorating project to give the Two Rivers Community Pantry\u2019s base a new lease of life.<\/p>\n

Volunteers from Siemens Mobility have taken part in a number of tree planting initiatives, helped to install bat boxes at a local nature reserve, and have played a major part in supporting Goole Pride since it was launched in 2023.<\/p>\n

Operations Support Coordinator, Claire Winter, joined Siemens Mobility a year ago and has already been involved in a number of community activities, including Goole Pride, the annual Goole Charity Cricket Day and a tree planting initiative at a local primary school.<\/p>\n

Claire said: \u201cEveryone at Siemens is so proactive when it comes to volunteering and supporting local causes, and they really encourage new colleagues to get involved too.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe passion for supporting the local community is infectious. I\u2019ve always enjoyed giving back in my own time, but since joining Siemens it has really springboarded my volunteering.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough I\u2019ve lived locally for most of my life, being part of the Pride celebrations really opened my eyes to different sides of Goole that I\u2019ve not experienced before. There was such a positive and vibrant atmosphere, and it was great to be part of something which brought so many people together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Siemens Mobility also regularly makes financial donations to a range of charitable causes, often to support outcomes from volunteering activities, or to contribute to employee-led fundraising activities.<\/p>\n

One of the ways Siemens Mobility supports community organisations is through its annual Goole Charity Cricket Day, which was founded in 2023 and has raised almost \u00a350,000 for local causes. Plans are already underway for the 2025 event, with colleagues being invited to vote in a poll to select which local causes will benefit from the fundraiser this year.<\/p>\n

One of the groups benefitting from last year\u2019s fundraiser was Goole Amateur Boxing Club. Siemens Mobility has been supporting the boxing club since it opened, sponsoring the club\u2019s first show and raising \u00a34,000 for it during the 2024 Goole Charity Cricket Day.<\/p>\n

Clare Thornton, Operations Support Coordinator at Siemens Mobility and a voluntary Level 1 Qualified England Boxing Coach at the club, said: \u201cThe boxing club is run entirely by volunteers and relies on donations and fundraising.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe welcome over 190 children every month and we want to do even more. We\u2019re raising money to help us find a bigger premises and improve our facilities, so we\u2019re incredibly grateful for Siemens Mobility\u2019s backing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also really want to showcase the talents of our young people and raise more awareness of how beneficial boxing is for young people by hosting shows in the town.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to Siemens Mobility\u2019s support, we were able to host our very first show at Goole Market Hall last summer, and we\u2019re looking forward to hosting more in future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Siemens Mobility also actively supports colleagues who are taking on their own fundraising initiatives, by making company donations and promoting colleagues\u2019 efforts.<\/p>\n

Level 3 Logistics Apprentice Jordan Holliday took part in the 2025 London Marathon, raising \u00a32,780 for Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation in memory of his grandfather and grandmother, who both died after battling the disease.<\/p>\n

To support Jordan\u2019s fundraiser, Siemens Mobility donated \u00a3250 to the charity, with colleagues also promoting it with posters around the Goole site and through internal communications channels.<\/p>\n

In a separate project, colleagues at the Goole Rail Village are also volunteering their time to create a sensory garden at Kingsway Primary School in Goole, where Jordan\u2019s grandfather was the long-serving caretaker.<\/p>\n

Jordan said: \u201cMy colleagues have all been really supportive and helped promote my fundraiser in any way they could.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think my Grandad would have loved to see a sensory garden for the pupils at Kingsway. I\u2019m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.\u201d<\/p>\n
