The regulator made the statement following an inspection of both facilities in which the quality of the education provided and the behaviour, attitudes and apprenticeship offering were found to be \u2018Outstanding\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Personal development, leadership and management were, meanwhile, declared \u2018Good\u2019, which was also the grade awarded for \u2018overall effectiveness\u2019.<\/p>\n

OFSTED\u2019s<\/a> report goes on to say that apprentices at Northern<\/a> benefit from a wide range of career and development opportunities for those who aspire to become managers and leaders within the company.<\/p>\n

Lisa Leighton, people director at Northern<\/a>, said: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted with the outcome of the recent OFSTED<\/a> inspection and I would like to pay tribute to my colleagues in Leeds and Manchester and those based at our depots and TrainCare Centres who support with on-the-job operational training, helping hundreds of apprentices graduate every year.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach and every one of those graduates has the potential to be an industry leader of the future \u2013 bringing their skills, talent and ideas to the table.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe rail industry is an exciting sector to be a part of and there\u2019s no better grounding for a successful career than an apprenticeship, which combines classroom learning with on-the-job experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Northern<\/a> was\u00a0officially recognised by OFSTED<\/a> as a \u2018Main Provider\u2019\u00a0on the national register of apprenticeships in July 2022. That status enables Northern<\/a> to train other train operators\u2019 newcomers in the fields of train driving and passenger transport.<\/p>\n

In addition to classroom learning, Northern<\/a> is increasingly using virtual reality technology to provide \u2018real world\u2019 scenarios from the safety of the classroom.<\/p>\n

In 2023, Northern<\/a>\u00a0became a patron of the Multicultural Apprenticeship Alliance\u00a0(Powered by Pathway Group) \u2013 an organisation that strives to promote social mobility, diversity, inclusion and equity in apprenticeships.<\/p>\n
