Ella trabaj\u00f3 en las ramas de propulsi\u00f3n y estructuras y proyectos como el avi\u00f3n de investigaci\u00f3n hipers\u00f3nico X-43A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/reference\/x-43a\/%22%20\/l%20%22hds-sidebar-nav-1\">(Hyper-X)<\/a> y el veh\u00edculo de lanzamiento orbital reutilizable <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/image-article\/boeing-x-37\/\"  rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">X-37<\/a>, donde tuvo la oportunidad de realizar c\u00e1lculos para estimaciones t\u00e9rmicas y an\u00e1lisis de trayectorias. Actualmente ella dirige el desarrollo de una estaci\u00f3n de control terrestre en la NASA Armstrong.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>En la secundaria y la universidad, McLaughlin se inscribi\u00f3 a clases STEM, sabiendo que quer\u00eda seguir una carrera en ingenier\u00eda. Animada por su madre a solicitar una pasant\u00eda en la NASA, la carrera de McLaughlin comenz\u00f3 en 2014 como pasante de la Oficina de Participaci\u00f3n STEM de la NASA Armstrong.
