Operators must set out their approach to redress in their Accessible Travel Policy (ATP).<\/p>\n<p>ORR is now seeking to consult on revising its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orr.gov.uk\/monitoring-regulation\/rail\/passengers\/passenger-assistance\/atp\">ATP guidance<\/a> so that redress claims are always considered on the circumstances in each case including the impact on the passenger.<\/p>\n<p>The need for a review has been prompted by redress decisions and subsequent compensation awards made by the Court and Rail Ombudsman, data from ORR\u2019s passenger survey that shows that levels of redress claims are low relative to the volumes of failed assists, and a concern raised to ORR that some operators\u2019 ATPs limit, or appear to limit, the level of financial compensation in relation to the ticket price.<\/p>\n<p>ORR will consult later this month on proposed amendments to the ATP Guidance requirements relating to redress before making a decision on any amendments later this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephanie Tobyn, ORR\u2019s director of strategy, policy and reform, said:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field__item\">\n<div class=\"styling-options--alignment--left pull-quote-size--big paragraph paragraph--type--pull-quote paragraph--view-mode--default\">\n<div class=\"pull-quote-container\">\n<div class=\"pull-quote-text\">\n<div class=\"clearfix text-formatted field field--name-field-text field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field__item\">\n<p>\u201cOur work with industry is first and foremost to ensure they deliver assistance to passengers that need it. But when assistance isn\u2019t delivered it is important there is fair redress in place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve listened to affected passengers and we believe it is right to review redress policies for failed passenger assistance.
