This is a big step back from the company, who had a positive result of over 29 million euros in 2023.<\/strong><br \/>\n<span id=\"more-62139\"><\/span>In other words, the company lost 67 million euros between 2023 and 2024. Last year was also the first time that \u010cD Cargo posted negative economic results in the 2020s. \u201cThe economic result was negatively affected primarily by (&#8230;) provisions for severance pay for employees and the reduction in the value of assets that will become redundant in the coming years\u201d said Tom\u00e1\u0161 T\u00f3th, Chairman of the Board of Directors of \u010cD Cargo.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"readmore\">\n<div class=\"readmore-item\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/business\/2025\/04\/10\/cd-cargo-fires-10-of-its-employees\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/CD-Cargo-train-driver-128x128.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"readmore-thumbnail\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"readmore-info\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.railfreight.com\/business\/2025\/04\/10\/cd-cargo-fires-10-of-its-employees\/\" class=\"readmore-title\">\u010cD Cargo to fire 10% of its employees<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>The decrease in rail freight, T\u00f3th added, is also linked to a decline in transportation of brown coal, lower metallurgic production and less demand for wood transport services in the Czech domestic market. The company stated that last year\u2019s loss will be remedied by the retained earnings from previous years.<\/p>\n<h2>The rest of the \u010cD Group<\/h2>\n<p>\u010cD Cargo is part of the state-owned railway holding \u010cD Group, which also includes passenger operator \u010cesk\u00e9 dr\u00e1hy (\u010cD). Contrary to the freight segment, the company posted positive results in 2024 for 83 million euros. The passenger operator experienced the opposite trend compared to \u010cD Cargo in the past few years. The latter, as seen above, lost dozen of million of euros in the past 4 years.
