As part of Network Rail\u2019s five-year planning and funding cycle, Control Period 7 (CP7), Telent has been appointed to deliver a telecoms renewal programme throughout the Wales and Western Region, which spans London to Penzance, Bristol, the Cotswolds and the whole of Wales.<\/p>\n

This first telecoms-only framework to be awarded in CP7, will see Telent, the UK\u2019s leading critical infrastructure technology provider deliver upgrades to enhance operational efficiency, reliability and improve passenger experiences.<\/p>\n

Telent will be upgrading critical Operational Telecoms systems and renewing Station Information and Security Systems (SISS) such as customer information, VSS and public address at Network Rail managed stations, including Bristol Temple Meads.<\/p>\n

Mobilisation has already started, Telent is working closely with Network Rail to plan the renewal programme and design for FTN power renewals for over 480+ sites across the Region is underway.<\/p>\n

By upgrading key Operational and SISS telecoms infrastructure we are helping to deliver a more reliable railway for passengers, train operators and Network Rail.\u201d<\/p>\n

Richard Cundy, Regional Telecoms Asset & Performance Manager, Western and Wales Region at Network Rail said, \u201cUpgrading our telecoms infrastructure is essential to maintaining a safe, dependable, and efficient railway for passengers. With Telent\u2019s knowledge and expertise, this programme of works will modernise critical communications systems across the Wales and Western Region, improving passenger assistance and supporting regional rail operations. We look forward to continuing our work with Telent to deliver these critical renewals as part of CP7.\u201d<\/p>\n

The telecoms renewal programme is set to be completed by the end of the CP7 project schedule in March 2029, with the aim for a further contract extension into CP8.<\/p>\n
