A Jordanian national has been refused bail after allegedly attempting to open emergency exit doors and strangling a crew member on a flight from Malaysia to Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shadi Taisser Ayed Alsaaydeh, 46, was arrested by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) when the AirAsia flight touched down at Sydney Airport on Saturday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was charged with two counts of endangering the safety of an aircraft and one count of assault crew of aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his bail application, his lawyer told the magistrate Mr Alsaaydeh had taken two medications, pseudoephedrine and a sleeping pill, and also consumed alcohol before boarding the flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said his client had no memory of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police will allege that while seated at the back of the plane, Mr Alsaaydeh attempted to open an emergency exit latch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was then moved to the middle of the aircraft where it is alleged he attempted a second time to open another emergency exit and choked a flight attendant who intervened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
