The Swiss manufacturer has acquired a 4.6ha site near Berlin, where it will commission regional, S-Bahn and metro trains built at the nearby Berlin-Pankow plant.<\/p>\n<p>Existing buildings at the site will be refurbished and extended and a new acceptance centre built. The facility will include over 1.3km of covered track, as well as 700m of test tracks equipped with both overhead and third rail electrification for outdoor dynamic testing.<\/p>\n<p>Stadler\u2019s existing commissioning centre in Velten, also near Berlin, will be repurposed as a maintenance centre when the Hennigsdorf site opens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStadler is already firmly connected to the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region at several locations,\u201d says Mr Jure Mikol\u010di\u0107, CEO of Stadler Germany. \u201cOur commissioning centre in Velten is now reaching the limits of its capacity.
