{"id":18898,"date":"2024-03-11T09:43:02","date_gmt":"2024-03-10T23:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/?p=115572"},"modified":"2024-03-11T09:43:02","modified_gmt":"2024-03-10T23:43:02","slug":"funding-available-to-improve-level-crossing-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=18898","title":{"rendered":"Funding available to improve level crossing safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"h5\">\n<p><strong>Applications for Round Two of the Level Crossing Safety Research and Innovation Grants are now open.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span id=\"more-115572\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"my-5\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/south-australia-to-get-level-crossing-upgrades\/\">The Regional Australia Level Crossing Safety Program<\/a> provides funding to improve safety at level crossings in regional areas.<\/p>\n<p>This second round of grants will share in $1.9\u00a0million available under the Research and Innovation Grants component of the Program to support:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>research and investigation of new technologies and approaches to improve level crossing safety, and<\/li>\n<li>trials of innovative and lower-cost level crossing safety improvements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The results of the trials will be shared with governments and the rail industry to inform ongoing activities under the National Level Crossing Safety Strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Round One of the grants saw $2.8\u00a0million in funding shared among 6 successful projects trialling a range of technologies including: rumble strips, flashing and reflective posts and signage, research into train visibility, solar-powered wireless warning signals and data monitoring.<\/p>\n<p>These grants are in addition to the $160\u00a0million for the Regional Level Crossing Upgrade Fund, which will cover up to 50% of the cost of delivering priority level crossing upgrades from 2023\u20132024 to 2026\u20132027.<\/p>\n<p>Industry, research bodies and universities are amongst those encouraged to apply for Round Two grants by Friday 5\u00a0April 2024.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on eligibility and how to apply, visit\u00a0<a class=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grants.gov.au\/Go\/Show?GoUuid=2876615E-6370-4C39-B76B-10DB3DA39F07\"  rel=\"noopener\">grants.gov.au<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/funding-available-to-improve-level-crossing-safety\/\">Funding available to improve level crossing safety<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.railexpress.com.au\/\">Rail Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Applications for Round Two of the Level Crossing Safety Research and Innovation Grants are now open.
