NASA and Firefly Aerospace will host a news conference at 2 p.m. EDT Tuesday, March 18, from NASA\u2019s Johnson Space Center in Houston to discuss the company\u2019s successful Blue Ghost Mission 1 on the Moon\u2019s surface.<\/p>\n

Firefly\u2019s Blue Ghost lunar lander touched down March 2, on the Moon\u2019s Mare Crisium basin. The lander\u2019s NASA payloads were activated, collected science data, and performed operations as part of NASA\u2019s CLPS (Commercial Lunar Payload Services) initiative and Artemis campaign to establish a long-term lunar presence. The mission is not designed to survive through the lunar night; however, Blue Ghost continued operations for five hours after lunar sunset on March 16.<\/p>\n
