Kedentransservis, the largest logistics terminal operator in Kazakhstan, is establishing a joint venture with China Xinjiang Commercial Logistics. Through their shared enterprise, the companies plan to build a new rail freight terminal near Kazakhstan\u2019s largest city, Almaty. The future hub should be able to process a large variety of freight types, according to current plans.<\/strong>
\n<\/span>In the first stage, the logistics hub, which carries the name Kazybek Bek, will occupy a territory of 500 hectares. It will get a rail terminal, a storage and \u201cmulti-temperature\u201d zone, open spaces for automotive vehicles, a grain storage and a space for bulk cargo. The hub should be able to process 350 thousand TEU annually.<\/p>\n

Kedentransservis has not yet mentioned a timeframe or expected cost for the construction of the hub. However, authorities of the Chinese region of Xinjiang earlier announced<\/a> a one billion yuan (132 million euros) investment in a rail hub in Almaty. The newly announced joint venture and the investment from the Chinese Xinjiang region likely pertain to that same project.<\/p>\n
