This cloudiness comes from glacial flour: bits of pulverized rock ground down by glaciers that has the consistency of flour. Several\u00a0meltwater streams\u00a0rich with the particles, sometimes called\u00a0suspended sediment, absorb and scatter sunlight in ways that turn water a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/earthobservatory.nasa.gov\/images\/145055\/how-glaciers-turn-lakes-turquoise\" rel=\"noopener\">milky blue-green hue<\/a>.
