With plans by Elon Musk to privatise the Amtrak System<\/a> would this be good for the network expansion and upgrades?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Privitisation could also hurt huge multi billion dollar projects like the New Hudson River Tunnel\/Gateway program to increase capacity on the busy Northeast Corridor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Baltimore tunnel (wich has a higher top speed) New rolling stock like the Airos Dallas to Houston HSR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem is that we never built tracks for Amtrak. We just borrowed freight tracks from freight operators (under the agreement that freight trains get right-of-way). So Amtrak always had to fake it and has zero infrastructure of their own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actually, the postal service and Amtrak are each other\u2019s savior. The two things that run on a schedule? People and mail. Putting them together makes too much sense. And combined, it would improve the competitiveness of both.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
