Airport bosses are looking for global inspiration to bring thousands more passengers and jobs to one of the state\u2019s fastest-growing areas, eyeing a new 4km driverless shuttle that would link the precinct to existing rail networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This proposal should be compared to heavy rail which would provide a better service and allow for a freight connection into the logistics area which will be expanded over the next decade. A new freight facility is due to open in 2025<\/a> creating more truck movements into and out of the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are many jobs being created in the Avalon area<\/a> especially defence manufacturing workers cannot access public transport to get to their jobs and this proposal is not what is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Tim Pallas the failed former Treasurer of Victoria was never serious about a rail line into Avalon logistics and airport merely using the threat of investing into an Avalon Airport rail line<\/a>, desperately required, in an attempt to negotiate with Melbourne Airport.
