damaged a bridge, state-run media&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/tass.ru\/proisshestviya\/20144613\">reported<\/a>, citing emergency services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAround 5:00 a.m., there was an explosion on a railroad bridge that spans over the Chapaevka River,\u201d the TASS news agency quoted an emergency official as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRail traffic through the bridge has been suspended,\u201d the unnamed source added, noting that preliminary reports showed that support structures and side railings on the bridge had been damaged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TASS, citing a statement by the local railway service, later reported that \u201cillegal interference by unauthorized persons in the operation of railway transport\u201d had caused the disruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Five passenger trains in the Samara region were delayed because of the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"407\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ukraine\u2019s GUR military intelligence agency later on Monday&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/DIUkraine\/3549\">confirmed<\/a>&nbsp;that an explosion had occurred along the Samara region railroad bridge, though it was not immediately clear whether Kyiv was responsible for the blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe railroad route was used by the aggressor state for transporting military cargo, in particular, ammunition made at the factory of JSC Polymer in the city of Chapaevsk,\u201d the GUR said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city of Chapaevsk, with a population of around 70,000, is located just under 40 kilometers to the south of the regional capital of Samara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDue to the nature of the damage to the railway bridge, it will be impossible to use it for a while,\u201d the GUR\u2019s statement added without clarifying how it was able to determine the nature of the damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russian authorities have reported&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.themoscowtimes.com\/2023\/12\/01\/kyiv-says-sabotaged-russian-railway-in-siberia-a83284\">several attacks<\/a>&nbsp;on the country&#8217;s transport infrastructure since it
