{"id":171263,"date":"2025-01-30T10:46:26","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T00:46:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=171263"},"modified":"2025-01-30T10:49:55","modified_gmt":"2025-01-30T00:49:55","slug":"degraves-street-subway-reopens-at-flinders-street-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=171263","title":{"rendered":"Degraves Street Subway reopens at Flinders Street Station"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?p=171247\" title=\"Old metro stations joining with new\">Degraves Street Subway<\/a> at Flinders Street Station has reopened to the public after more than two years of being closed for Metro Tunnel works \u2014 so, why is it still covered in dirt and grime?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The works underway have been to link the very useful subway with the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vibewire.com.au\/?tag=town-hall-railway-station\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Town Hall Railway Station\">Town Hall Railway Station<\/a> as a component of the Metro Tunnel project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a pity the subways were closed when the redevelopment of the Southern Cross Railway Station was undertaken meaning the pavements and pedestrian crossings are highly dangerous and swell with people during the peak times.
